Summarizing in Science

(11/14): Ms. Swain and Mrs. Whitworth's Science classes take supporting and reinforcing ELA seriously! Our unit currently is Human Body Systems. Students read an article as an introduction and created a summary of the article based on the TAAMIO strategy. Using strategies such as this one gives the student a tool to remember and be successful when tackling ELA concepts. We often get the statement, "I thought this was Science class!!" We simply respond with, "Scientists must be able to read, analyze, synthesize texts in order to know and understand the accomplishments of past scientists and explain their own theories and discoveries." Our students are thinking like SCIENTISTS!
