PMS Library Orientation: Ready, Set, Read!

(8/20): Our PMS students are off to a fantastic start in the library! During library orientation, students learned everything they need to know to become confident and responsible library users.
Students listened carefully as we reviewed our library expectations, including how to be respectful, responsible, and ready to learn. We talked about using library materials appropriately and making the library a welcoming place for everyone.
Students learned that every book has a story to tell—and we want our books to stay in great shape for the next reader! We discussed proper book care, including keeping books away from food and drinks, using clean hands, and returning books safely.
Students explored how the library is organized and learned how to locate books on the shelves. They practiced using call numbers and discovering books by genre and subject.
Learning became an adventure with our library scavenger hunts! Students worked their way around the library, searching for books, learning about different sections, and putting their new library skills to the test.
The best part of orientation? Checking out books! Students excitedly browsed the shelves, made their selections, and headed home with books they can't wait to read.
Students are also excited about our digital reading opportunities through Epic and our AR rewards! We are encouraging students to read widely, discover new authors and genres, and celebrate their reading accomplishments.
We are so excited to see our students discovering that the library is more than a place to find books—it's a place to explore, imagine, learn, and grow.
