(12/4): Mrs. Brumley’s fifth grade science students have been studying forces all of this 9 weeks. Students created air-powered cars or rockets out of drink bottles donated by parents (thank you again). They used these vehicles to demonstrate non-contact forces. They finished up their unit this week by “Toying with Forces”. The spent some time playing with some retro toys then determined which forces were at “play” with their favorite toy.

(12/4): The PMS Beginner Band, consisting of sixth graders, marched in the Pontotoc Christmas Parade this week. They played Jingle Bells to welcome the holiday spirit down Main Street. Great job, Warriors!

(12/2): PMS beginner band performed a winter concert with songs that they had learned this semester. They did a wonderful job on holiday songs to begin the Christmas season. These students will perform in the Christmas parade this week also.

(12/2): PMS students were recognized as portraying positive traits at school this past week. Congrats to these students for being courteous and mannerly to classmates.

(12/2): During library this month, PMS students were challenged to disguise a turkey as a book character. The students did a great job making the characters come to life. Congrats to "Nancy Drew" for winning the best disguise! Here a few of the Book Character Turkeys!

(11/20): PMS PTO treated the teachers and staff with soup from Honey Pies. We are so THANKFUL for PMS teachers and all that they do each day.

(11/20): PMS students and staff will participate in the Warrior Christmas Project Donation Drive for our district's students. Our school is asked to donate deodorant and body spray. There will be a box for donations near the school office. The deadline for accepting donations will be December 13. Thank you for your generous love for our community.

(11/19): PMS students competed in the 2024 Spelling Bee. All of the students did a great job spelling difficult words. Tana Snider was the winner spelling amnesia correctly. Congrats to all of the Warrior Spellers!
The county spelling bee will be announced at a later time. The top three winners will be represent PMS in the county spelling bee.

(11/20): Mr. Westbrook of Pontotoc High School and Pastor of Pontotoc 2nd Baptist spoke to our boys about accountability, self esteem, and initiative.

(11/19): Sixth grade science class turned into a mini biology lab and a mini gym as students began learning about how their body systems work together. They got their hearts racing—literally—by running in place and then checking their pulses. The challenge? To figure out which body systems were teaming up during the activity.
From their cardiovascular system pumping blood, to their respiratory system gulping air, to their muscular system powering every jump and step, students pieced together the amazing interconnectedness of their bodies.
Encourage your young scientist to explain what happens to their body when they exercise. Just be warned: you might be asked to check your own pulse!
