(5/5): Our 6th Grade Agriculture students celebrated May Day in the sweetest way!
They gathered beautiful blooms from the Knock Out roses planted six years ago by former middle school ag students—making it a full-circle moment of growth and tradition. Students then crafted their own paper vases, creating cheerful bouquets to share with teachers and staff.
It was a simple, heartfelt way to spread kindness and remind everyone that a little care can blossom into something truly special!

(5/4): Our 6th grade Ag students are officially in the business of attracting VIP guests—Very Important Pollinators! They planted a raised bed full of flowers designed to roll out the red carpet for butterflies and hummingbirds. With bright blooms and sweet nectar on the menu, the only thing missing now is a tiny “Now Serving: Wings Only” sign. 🦋🌺

(4/27): Last week, fifth-grade students from Pontotoc Middle School took learning beyond the classroom with a field trip to Howard Stafford Park. The outdoor experience gave students a hands-on opportunity to connect with nature and deepen their understanding of the environment.
A special thanks goes to the Mississippi State University Extension Service and surrounding county extension offices, who played a key role in organizing and leading the day’s activities. Their efforts helped spark curiosity and inspire a love of learning among students.
While at the park, students explored 14 different environmental stations, each focused on topics such as conservation, natural resources, and sustainability. The interactive lessons gave students a better understanding of how to care for and protect the world around them.
The trip was both educational and memorable, leaving students with new knowledge and a greater appreciation for the environment.

(4/27): Pontotoc Middle School is encouraging students to give their all on this year’s MAAP state tests with a range of exciting incentives and a unifying message: “Go for the gold!”
To celebrate hard work and achievement, students have the opportunity to earn fun rewards, including candy salads, trips to the movie theater, and even lunch outings to Mi Pueblo. Some top-performing students may also earn exemptions from school, recognizing their dedication and success.
School leaders hope these incentives will inspire students to stay focused, confident, and motivated throughout the testing period. By combining encouragement with meaningful rewards, we are reminding everyone to try their best and aim high.
As testing gets underway, the message is clear: put in the effort, stay determined, and go for the gold!

(4/27): Pontotoc Middle School is rallying its students with energy and excitement as state testing begins this week, adopting an Olympic-inspired theme to motivate everyone to do their best.
The school recently hosted a spirited event modeled after an Olympic Closing Ceremony, where students proudly entered with banners displaying their homeroom teachers’ names. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as each group celebrated their teamwork and accomplishments, setting a positive tone for the weeks ahead.
Students and staff embraced the theme by dressing in red, white, and blue, transforming the school into a sea of patriotic colors. The celebration continued with a series of “Minute to Win It” games, where students faced fun but challenging tasks that required focus, determination, and quick thinking—skills that closely mirror those needed for success on state tests.
Teachers and administrators emphasized the importance of perseverance and confidence, encouraging students to “go for the gold” by giving their very best effort on each test. The event served not only as a celebration, but also as a reminder that preparation, teamwork, and a positive mindset can lead to success.
As testing begins this week, Pontotoc Middle School students are stepping into the challenge with excitement, school spirit, and a winning attitude.

(4/24): Mrs. Tutor’s 5th grade math class “glowed crazy” for their MAAP review!

(4/22): Pontotoc Middle School students got to participate in the PCSD Poetry Celebration today at Toyota MS. The students enjoyed Chick-Fil-A, shared their poems aloud, and got to tour the Toyota plant. The students had a wonderful day! Congratulations!

Pontotoc City School District will be remain closed Friday, January 30 due to power outages and other issues from inclement weather.

(2/14): PMS will have a GLOW IN THE DARK DANCE on March 21, from 3:30 - 5:00. Tickets will be $10 and will be sold February 26 - March 8. More details will come later.

Pontotoc City School District will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17, 2024. The closure is due to the continued dangerous weather conditions. This closure is implemented for the safety of all students and staff.
