(2/25): After the recent ice storm, our 6th Grade Agriculture students were disappointed to find that their chicken pen had been severely damaged by large falling limbs from the tree overhead. What could have been a major setback quickly turned into a powerful example of teamwork and support.
Pontotoc Middle School’s maintenance team stepped in right away, removing the massive dead limbs and making necessary repairs to the pen. Thanks to their hard work, the structure is now safe and secure — and our students no longer have to crawl inside to care for their chickens.
We are incredibly grateful for a maintenance team that not only fixes problems but supports our students’ learning experiences. Their quick response ensured that our agriculture program can continue safely, and our chickens are once again well cared for.

(2/23): Congrats to some of PMS sixth grade students as they participated in their first winter color guard competition in Mantachie. They placed first and made an incredible debut of this new adventure.

(2/23): PMS students and staff were encouraged to do random acts of kindness this past week. They dressed colorful each day with a different kindness message and challenge.

(2/20): The PMS Spring Book Fair was a great success. Our students went for the GOLD in purchasing books, posters, and other items. The Winter Olympic theme was displayed and trivia questions generated research about the world event. Thank you for supporting the PMS Library with your purchases.

(2/17): Students participated in a hallway dance party last week. They played music on the speaker and students danced up and down the halls with friends.

(2/17): On Friday, February 13, Mrs. Hester's classes reviewed the ELA Focus Standards from this nine weeks with Valentine’s Day Station Rotations! Students practiced argumentative writing discussing their claim about whether Valentine’s Day should be celebrated or not, various informational passage skills with a color-by-number passage, and figurative language playing bingo for rewards! Students also had a brain teaser station unscrambling common Valentine’s Day words and phrases!

(2/13): Congrats to these Warriors! They were recognized for demonstrating positive characteristics at school this week.

(2/11): Our counselor, Mrs. Ritchie is promoting National Kindness Day on February 17 with dress up days for students.

(2/11): PMS teachers had SIOP training - Lesson Delivery this week during PLC. This was a team bonding activity to see how difficult comprehension could be if you were not focused on the lesson. The delivery of the lesson is important for all students.
