(1/24): Congrats to these PMS students who were recognized for being positive in the classroom and at school.

(1/22): Today, students in gifted class conducted a food science experiment as part of their food truck unit. Students combined water, sugar, and yeast to grow a yeast “pet.” To watch their dormant yeast become active, students had to ensure the water temperature created a hospitable environment for the yeast and that they added enough sugar to give the yeast energy to grow. They were also able to use a jeweler’s loupe to see both the dormant yeast and the carbon dioxide bubbles the active yeast produced in an up close way!

Pontotoc City School District will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17, 2024. The closure is due to the continued dangerous weather conditions. This closure is implemented for the safety of all students and staff.

(9/13): The PCSD librarians attended the LAMP workshop this week. Kellie McIntyre, author of The Passport Project, spoke of her memoir. Elizabeth Simmons informed librarians of the MAGNOLIA database updates from MDE.

(1/9): These PMS students were recognized for demonstrating positive characteristics this week at school.

(1/7): PMS student, Jackson Bailey, wrote a winning essay for a hunting trip. He and his father got to go to a youth hunt with Whitetails Unlimited. He killed a nice buck on the trip. Congrats, Jackson!

(12/19): PMS students donated over 500 canned food items for the local food pantry. Mrs. Ritchie, PMS counselor, said she was proud of both grades for providing food to the community. The cans will be donated today to the food pantry.

(12/18): Congrats to our Principal! She was selected as Pontotoc City School District's Administrator of the Year. She is a wonderful leader for our staff and students, and she is recognized for it throughout the district. We appreciate all that you do for PMS each day.

(12/18): Pontotoc Middle School held its annual Junior Beta Club induction this week. Several students were recognized for their academic success in school. They will participate in school and community outreach projects next semester.
