hello my name is Trevor and this is how I talk people and this podcast we interview the citizens of Pinetop and this episode we're interviewing the skit one half of the sketchy teachers Miss law Johnson River today okay it's time to sketch the sketchy teachers 1/2 of this get yeah yeah that's alright you're not busy being a teacher right now though so let's get to it okay first question are you an introvert or extrovert I am definitely an introvert I love Tubi not around lots of people have it that's what Miss he's like he is definitely well I mean we're going to be kind and we're not going to mistreat people but you know alone time next question why did you why did you do did and start teaching kids when I went to get my teaching degree when I was in college I had gone straight through to get my Master's Degree and as I was going through talking to my advisor I realize there's they told me there was one class I needed to take to get my gifted certification so I just went on and took that during the summer to get my gifted certification and didn't really want to teach for a long time I taught kindergarten for 12 years second grade for like eight years and then I moved in that we are still living in Guntown a good ways to work every day but when I came to punch out to teach I talked to his grade reading and then I guess because like I'm old and I don't have a lot of patience anymore for large groups of children and when the gifted position came open I like snatched it up quick okay if you had if you have a second job can you tell me yes I actually do have a second job I work with a company called class101 and I work with high school students to help them prepare for college we help them work on resumes and we let them explore colleges and careers and encourage them to do community service and volunteer work a job okay what what would you do if you got fired right now right now right this minute I would grab my backpack and my stuff and I would go home and I would fix another cup of coffee and I would probably go paint a picture that doesn't seem like you're so stressful that's not super stressed about cuz I'm going to do my job so unless something just really crazy happens I'm not going to get fired how did you come up with how did how did you and Miss Baldwin come up with the name skin well we're pretty sketchy I mean it's sketchy has a double meaning so back to kind of your other question about a second job this fall and I kind of have art business on the side that we do it so because we both love to draw I hate stuff we just thought well you know what better way to describe us and if y'all wanted to get something from them go to bookends and on the Main Street of pain Garcia has a great little shop if you've never been in there why did why did you like teach why do you like what do you like teaching gifted I really liked teaching gifted because 41 there's a smaller class size and I feel like I can get better one-on-one with my students also I really like that we can take stuff without the stress of a test being pissed in all things so we can just learn for the joy of learning Gucci like yeah what is so special about teaching gifted kids I really like most not all but most gifted kids really want to learn and they're eager and I enjoy learning about all kind of different things and that's one of the things I really enjoy okay what made y'all want to start teaching well for myself so when I first went to call actually didn't major in teacher I was going to be a physical therapist yeah I know Mom was weird he said she used to be a PTA we got so much in common mine was very much like God telling me this is what you need to be doing is teaching kids so it's kind of would be awful not to obey what God is telling you to do so I changed my major to location and here I am 25 years later but you can retire right now if you wanted to could you could where you at were in gifted I was not in a gifted class like we have here when I was in high school I was in gifted art so it's a little bit similar we did have to take a series of special tests but it wasn't for like in Election Day gift it was for artistically gift what was your favorite trip you've ever taken if you have taken a job my family and I go on vacation just about every year one of my most favorite vacations I've been with my family is to Washington DC we got to go to the Smithsonian we got to go to George Washington's house at Mount Vernon I got to see where I Lincoln was shot at Ford's Theater it was a lot of walking and the food was not fabulous but all the stuff that we got to see and do was incredible. The Arlington Cemetery it was it was wonderful it was a wonderful trip so that's one of my favorite second favorite when I was 19 I got to go on a mission trip to Mexico and that was an incredible incredible forever my dad like when he when he was in the Army in Iraq he he what he what he had to go to he usually went to LA and they had to cross like desert to mount X usually and they had to swim a lot to a lot of hair but I'm not a lot of are button now it doesn't because like the army that it wasn't because of people okay y'all I think it that's all good to be with you today Trevor goodbye
