Making Butter is Fun in Ag!
(12/15): Mrs. Swain and Mrs. Whitworth's Agriculture classes MADE BUTTER! After watching a video of where "cream" comes from, students poured heavy cream in a 4 oz cup, put a lid on it, and shook it vigorously for 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes, they observed and recorded color, consistency, and amount of "milk" separated from cream. They shook it for 5 more minutes, poured off the remaining "milk", put honey, brown sugar, (some even put hot sauce) in it and ate it with crackers. All loved it! Most even loved drinking the milk separated from the cream. It so exciting to see students so interested in old-fashioned ways of life. Our Farm to Table curriculum has kept these students engaged and learning new things this semester. We are so looking forward to next semester!
