Throughout the month of March, the Mississippi Team is conducting a Parent Webinar Series. Check out the flyer below to see all of the dates and times throughout the month.

(3/10): Roller Coasters! The perfect project before spring break! This wraps up Mrs. Whitworth and Ms. Swain's 6th grade Science unit Forces and Motion. Students applied their knowledge of Gravitational Potential Energy, Kinetic Energy, Speed, Acceleration, and Velocity to create a paper roller coaster. The Engineering Design was definitely in use: Ask, Research, Imagine, Plan, Create, Test, Improve...Test, Improve, Test, Improve! Those last steps were repeated several times, BUT they kept the motto, "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again!" The smiles on their faces were priceless when they finally discovered how to gain enough potential and kinetic energy for the marble to make it all the way to the end.

(3/9): Sewing? In Agriculture? Yes! Agriculture is a very large area that involves so much, such as growing row crops, raising animals, using textiles from row crops to create clothing, various engineering areas, beekeeping, growing and caring for orchards, flowers, trees, and forestry, ag designing and advertising, and so much more. That being said, students in Mrs. Whitworth and Mrs. Swain's 6th grade Agriculture classes learned how to hand sew. They made BooBoo Bags which are little bags with rice inside to put in the freezer to apply on cuts and bruises. They also made drawstring bags and heart pillows. They had so much fun; well, maybe a couple of guys didn't enjoy it a whole lot, but since we had a lesson on replacing buttons, they have learned an important skill.

(3/8): The local district of Daughters of American Revolution recognized some of our middle school students this week. Annabel Quinn and Zaavan Nesbit received an award for writing an essay on the American Revolution. Fredrick Armstrong was recognized as the DAR Youth Citizenship Award for Pontotoc City Schools. Congratulations to these outstanding students.

(3/3): The Spring Book Fair will be the last week in March, March 27-31. Students will be able to shop all that week for books, posters, and more. Family Night will be on Tuesday, March 28 from 4-6 p.m.

(3/3): Congratulations to Frederick Armstrong for being selected as the 6th grade recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution Citizenship Award. Each year, one 6th grade student is selected to represent our school. Frederick has earned love and respect from his peers, teachers, and administration; and he embodies what it is to be a good citizen. When he was announced as winner, you could hear the cheers through the halls of the building! Mr. Armstrong is deserving of this award, and we are so proud of him!

(3/3): The Boys of Tomorrow's World have had a few guest speakers. Mr. Zach Gory and Mr. Jordan Hall have spoken to them about being a good character and integrity. These men encouraged our middle school boys to have respect for classmates and teachers.
