Roller Coasters
(3/10): Roller Coasters! The perfect project before spring break! This wraps up Mrs. Whitworth and Ms. Swain's 6th grade Science unit Forces and Motion. Students applied their knowledge of Gravitational Potential Energy, Kinetic Energy, Speed, Acceleration, and Velocity to create a paper roller coaster. The Engineering Design was definitely in use: Ask, Research, Imagine, Plan, Create, Test, Improve...Test, Improve, Test, Improve! Those last steps were repeated several times, BUT they kept the motto, "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again!" The smiles on their faces were priceless when they finally discovered how to gain enough potential and kinetic energy for the marble to make it all the way to the end.
