(9/19): PMS students can get their face painted TOMORROW during football season to show their Warrior spirit. Volunteers will be set up in the hallways in the mornings. The cost will be $1.00.

(9/16): PMS PTO provided teachers and staff a popcorn bar, which was filled with a variety of flavored popcorn and all the toppings. Thank you for the wonderful snack to start our week.

(9/16): Our 6th grade science students got creative this week by turning cells into cities! To better understand cell organelles, students compared them to the parts of a city—like the nucleus as City Hall, the mitochondria as power plants, and even the cell membrane as the city limits! Their imaginative “Cell City” analogies made learning about the inner workings of cells fun and unforgettable. Who knew biology and city planning could go hand-in-hand?

(9/13): Students in 5th grade science classes are learning about volume. They practiced finding the volume of an irregular shape object by using a graduated cylinder.

(9/13): A big THANK YOU to the firefighters for cooking our breakfast consisting of pancakes and sausage this morning. Thank you to our wonderful admin for providing this to the teachers and staff at PMS.

(9/13): Librarians from the Pontotoc City School District attended LAMP workshop this week at Ole Miss. They gathered information on graphic novels and AI while they learned updates on the library guidelines from MDE. C. L. Threatt shared the importance of teachers and the influence that they have on their students lasts a lifetime.

(9/13): Mrs. Emison’s students played The UNFAIR Game to review for their Unit 2 test. Students answered review questions and then waited to see if their name was drawn to have a chance to answer. If they got it correct, they could write their name in the blank beside several random prizes. Or they could erase someone else’s name and replace it with theirs. The kids loved fighting over the random potato and other prizes!!!

9/13: Fifth and sixth grade ELA classes visited the middle school library the past few weeks to learn about the variety of resources the PMS library has to offer students and to put library skills using the online catalog to find books.
Afterwards, students were given the opportunity to check out books and read while waiting on others to select a book.

(9/13): PMS students were recognized for demonstrating positive characteristics in class and in the halls. Congrats to these Warriors!

(9/13): The 6th grade Ag class is on a mission to supercharge their compost bed! After learning all about composting through a video and article, students got hands-on by bringing in egg shells, table scraps, and coffee grounds from home. They even rescued leftover bananas from the cafeteria and recycled newspaper and cardboard boxes. With this level of commitment, our compost is bound to be the envy of every worm in town! 🍌🥚🌿
