(4/5): Chickens are flying the coop!!!! Well, they are actually scratching out of the coop. Ag students have placed a predator apron at high-risk areas, but we need cinder blocks to secure the apron (aka strip of chicken wire) to the wall of the pen. If anyone has any they don't need, we will take them! The cinder blocks will have dual purposes: securing the apron to the ground and wall of the chicken pen AND planting edible flowers for the chickens to eat through the fencing. I am attaching pictures of what it does and what we want it to look like (these are not my pictures of our chicken coop).

(3/28): Mrs. Brumley's classes worked for multiple weeks to earn a positive behavior reward. Morning classes voted for extra break time. Since it rained, we turned it into an inside day of board games. Even the class pet, Jellybean the bearded dragon, got in on the fun. Afternoon classes voted for a day in the Warrior room. Great job 5th grade Warriors! What will they earn next?

(3/28): Students in Mrs. Brumley's class have been studying Ecosystems. One part of their unit was all about Photosynthesis. Students collected leaves and flower blossoms to create prints using a special solar paper and the sun's energy. Later they labeled their images to show their understanding of how photosynthesis works.

(3/28): Students in 5th grade UFO classes participated in the "Unequal Resources" challenge. In this challenge student group "countries" were given limited resources and had to find a way to barter and trade with other student group "countries" to obtain the resources their "country" would need to survive. This gave students first hand experience with the problems that can come along with unequal distribution of natural resources. Students had to overcome conflicts, create trade agreements and form alliances. It was a wonderful learning experience.

(3/27): On our miniature "farm" at PMS, 6th grade AG students gather and tag hens whose egg-laying days have passed. With keen eyes trained on the subtle indicators of age, they assess each hen's comb, wattle, and the color of their legs. This intimate examination guides their decisions, ensuring that only the appropriate hens receive their tags. Through this meticulous process, the students learn to respect the natural rhythms of life on the farm, preserving the welfare of every member of the flock. These hens will now be processed for consumption by the AG teacher. Until the next episode...Keep Kickin' Chicken!

(3/5): Exciting news from our Agriculture program! Our students have been hard at work preparing for the upcoming spring planting season. Recently, they rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty planting starter seeds for our garden.
Under the guidance of our 6th Grade Ag teachers, the students learned the basics of seed planting, including proper spacing, watering techniques, and the importance of sunlight. From tomatoes to sunflowers, our young gardeners carefully planted a variety of seeds with enthusiasm and care.
As these seeds begin to sprout and grow, our students will continue to nurture them, eagerly anticipating the fruits (and vegetables!) of their labor.

(3/26): In the uproarious world of 6th-grade agriculture, our classrooms have transformed into miniature jungles as students embark on the epic quest of growing seedlings for spring planting. Armed with watering cans and magnifying glasses, these budding botanists navigate the perils of overwatering and underfeeding with the finesse of seasoned gardeners. Amidst the chaos of rogue sprouts and accidental soil spills, laughter fills the air as students debate whether their tomato seedlings resemble tiny green aliens or aspiring superheroes. With each day bringing new surprises and unexpected growth spurts, our agriculture classes prove that even the tiniest seeds can yield the biggest laughs.

(3/26): Greetings, intrepid aviators!
In our latest science escapade, students embarked on a journey to explore the principles of propulsion, pressure, and pure excitement.
Using the simple yet mighty combination of film canisters and Alka-Seltzer tablets, our intrepid explorers engineered their miniature rockets, concocting the perfect formula for high-flying success. With fizzy reactions and a touch of imagination, they witnessed firsthand the marvels of aerodynamics.
From the launch pad to the sky, our students soared to new heights in our classroom cosmos! They ignited curiosity, defied gravity, and made some stellar memories together. Who knew learning about flight could be this fizzy and fun?
