(9/6): Students in my EL classes are learning morphemes. This week is scop/scope, which means see or watch. The students decorated paper towel rolls to make a “scope.” Then, they used their scopes to see items in the room and play “I Spy.”

(9/6): Congrats to these PMS Positive Praise students! They are positive leaders in our building who possess the characteristics of Warriors of Distinction!

(9/6): In 6th grade Ag class, our students turned up the heat by taste-testing a variety of peppers grown from seed by last year's AG students —from mild bell peppers to fiery habaneros. Armed with the Scoville scale, they bravely graded each pepper by its Scoville Heat Units (SHU). Let's just say, some students found out firsthand why the habanero comes with a warning label! 🌶️🔥 Then after surviving Monday's pepper taste test, the 6th grade Ag class on Wednesday put their new knowledge to good use by whipping up some pico de gallo on Tuesday—using the very produce they grew from seed last year! Who knew a little homegrown jalapeño could bring tears of joy and...maybe a little extra sweat? 🌶️🍅😅🔥

(9/5): In 6th grade science, we're making learning about cell organelles fun and engaging with whole-brain learning! Students use hands-on activities, colorful visuals, and games to help remember the tiny parts of a cell. By using both their creative and thinking sides, they're discovering how organelles work together to keep cells going strong!

(9/5): Students will bring home progress reports today.

(9/5): Since school started back, Mrs. Brumley's 5th grade science classes have been very busy. They have determined the physical properties of ordinary household objects.
Next they worked together to discover how to make clay that is more dense than water (meaning it sinks in water) float while carrying as many marbles as possible which are also more dense than water.
This week students were using their observation skills to classify various materials. After closely examining each substance they created mixtures with them and then determined whether each mixture was a solution or not.

(9/4): PMS PTO treated the teachers and staff this week with lunch - grilled hamburgers and all the trimmings! We appreciate all that you do for us to make us feel special. We all need our September message ... love is patient; love is kind.

(9/3): The girls have been practicing their pickleball and volleyball skills in Coach Morgan's PE this week.

(8/30): In the latest chapter of our science classroom adventures, our young scientists dove into the tiny, mysterious world of cells. They explored the age-old rivalry between prokaryotes and eukaryotes—think of it as the ultimate cell showdown! Prokaryotes emerged as the minimalist rebels of the cell world, rocking the simple life with no nucleus, while eukaryotes strutted their stuff with all the bells and whistles, including a fancy nucleus and other cool cell bling.

(8/30): PMS students were recognized for their positive behavior this week. Congrats to these students!
